Folu Akintola

Software and ML Engineer

I'm Folu Akintola, a London-based Software & ML Engineer. I ship production-ready products end-to-end—Flutter/React up front, FastAPI services behind, with sensible MLOps (Airflow/MLflow, Docker, CI/CD, Prometheus/Grafana). I hold an MSc in Data Science (Distinction) from the University of Hertfordshire and a BSc in Computer Science from Osun State University.

My work is diverse, spanning speech/TTS for African languages, market time-series modelling, and federated/efficient learning for healthcare. As a KaggleX Fellow, I've demonstrated my leadership and initiative. At ToNative (tonative.org), I led the development of tools utilising machine learning models to translate English datasets into African languages, including Yorùbá, Igbo, and Kinyarwanda. I also initiated the Google Developer Student Clubs chapter at Osun State University.

My passion lies in turning complex, messy ideas into elegant, measurable products. This drive has led me to collaborate with HDR UK & Newcastle University on adaptive federated learning (Flower/Ray, compression, and continual learning), as well as with the Alan Turing Institute & British Geological Survey on geoscience computer vision (co-authored report). I am interested in roles at the intersection of engineering and research.
